Kenyan Coast exploring

There is something magical about the East Coast of Africa. The ocean is warm, the air is fragrant and everything just seems slower, more relaxed, friendly. It's a hakuna matata vibe, which is just perfect for lazing around with a G&T in hand and a good book.
I, Jess, grew up on this coastline, and that is why our second gin, Indian Ocean Gin, was born. Early memories of Dhow sailing, diving in these gorgeous clear waters and always being sandy and hot and drinking tea to cool down- bizarre I know, but my Grandmother swore that the only thing to cool off in the heat was a hot cup of tea with lemon. It actually, weirdly, works.

We created Indian Ocean with this coast in mind, using wonderful Zanzibari spices like Cardamom and Black pepper, Pink Peppercorns and Swahili Lime. We wanted to create a gin that was true to its provenance, as well as something with a bit of a twist.. so as a heads up to Granny Gertrude and her tea drinking habits, we infuse Indian Ocean with Chai Masala ( Masala is a traditional spice mix, consisting of Kenyan black tea, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cardamom, Ginger and Black Pepper- post distillation.
We recommend pairing Indian Ocean with a traditional Indian Tonic, or if you fancy a longer drink, with a cold splash of tea and lots of ice- for a G&Tea!
